*Celebrate Baby* Mudpuppy Review & Giveaway [Ends 3/17]

  

I'm still a child at heart and I love to play with kid's toys (not by myself of course). My little guy paid no attention to toys until he was about 17-ish months old. Now at 20 months, he's finally starting to actually play with his toys. He likes stacking blocks and similar things. We are ready for a whole new world to explore.

Mudpuppy offers hundreds of puzzles and other activity sets. Since my little guy likes blocks, I chose to review the Playful Pets Block Puzzle. It is meant for ages 3+, but I didn't think this puzzle could do him any harm. The puzzles consists of 9 2-inch cubes to use as building blocks or form 6 different puzzle pictures featuring Playful Pets illustrated by Melinda Beck: dog, canary, tortoise, goldfish, hamster, and cat. It's printed with nontoxic, soy-based inks and the cubes contain 90% recycled paper. It is CE and ASTM tested for safety.

When I opened the puzzle and gave it to my little guy, he immediately stacked the block into a tower. Since he doesn't understand yet how to put pictures together, that's how he's mostly been playing with the cubes. Another game he has is to spill the cubes out of the box and then put them back in. Or put the cubes into the box cover. Aren't the little ones so smart? I do build the pictures for him and he gets excited, because he realizes that it's a picture, but can't do it by himself yet. So he asks me to do it for him all the time now. We've had this block puzzle for a month now and he's still playing with it everyday.

I love the idea of this puzzle and it reminds me of the toys I had as a child. It's fun and educational at the same time. Since these cubes are meant for ages 3+, my baby doesn't know how to handle them properly. He's still curious enough to bite and tear things. The pictures on the cardboard cubes are made of glossy paper which is stickered on. He's been able to tear the pictures off. Thanks God for scotch tape! So far I've been able to fix everything he's done. I wish the cubes were sturdier, but I understand that for something of a very high quality we would need to pay a high quality price. This puzzle retails for only $15 and it will bring great entertainment to your child. I do not regret at all that I gave this to my kid and that it's not in perfect condition anymore. I love watching him play with the puzzle and ask me to build pictures for him. It's worth it!
