There are some of us who make their own baby food. And then there is the rest of us who are less adventurous, busy, lazy or whatever other excuses we have. My little guy grew up on jarred food. At the time, it seemed convenient and not that expensive. Back then he wasn't picky (I miss those times) and ate everything I fed him. When he grew out of the baby food stage, I noticed something new on the market - squeezable baby puree pouches. At 20 months, he's not really a baby anymore, he's a toddler, but he still enjoys the squeezable purees!
My little guy is a very picky eater, it's impossible to feed him anything. He does however love the purees. I'm very thankful to whoever first invented the squeezable purees. He won't eat the veggie ones (except carrots) anymore, but the fruit ones are always a hit. They are great for taking out. He can eat them himself and it's more nutritious than a couple crackers. Whenever I'm having a really hard time feeding him at home, I'll give him a puree as my last resort, because he'll always eat it.
Baby Gourmet is a new Canadian company which specializes in squeezable organic baby purees. Baby Gourmet uses 100% organic ingredients, no thickeners or fillers, no added sugar or salt and BPA free packaging. They have broken down their purees into 3 categories. Stage 1 for 6+ months, Stage 2 for 7+ and Stage 3 for 8+. Each category offers 3 different flavor options. What I love about their online store is that you can purchase a Sample Box for any of the stages or even better - an All Stage Sample Box. This is exactly what I received for my review.
The sample box comes in a paper container, just like a real delivery. It contains 9 puree pouches, one of each flavors. It's a great way to sample all the flavors before buying the full product cases. I let my son decided what he likes and what he doesn't like. I bet younger babies will like all the flavors, but mine of course had his favorites. Surprisingly, he didn't finish the Stage 3 purees which were thicker in texture. He only liked the Tropical Banana Bliss one. His favorites were the Stage 1 set. I don't know if it was because they are smoother or because they contain simpler ingredients like apples, carrots, bananas etc - basically what he usually likes.
Baby Gourmet squeezable baby purees definitely make great snacks and meals. And you don't have to feel guilty that you are feeding your child a pre-packaged puree, because it's made with organic ingredients and no bad stuff like preservatives. I would choose this stuff over jarred generic baby food any day of the week.
You can purchase Baby Gourmet purees through their website and at Canadian Wal Marts. Click here to locate where it's sold near you.
